दुआ

Is it just me who feels that most of the people I meet seem to be saying ‘I am tired and I have been tried.’ There are barriers, nay walls, so high and strong around their hearts that nothing can reach out or reach across anymore. The isolation is heart breaking. They seem to be lost in the dry, arid, never ending desert of their minds. Yet when I tell them pray, they look at me as if I have cursed at them. ‘Pray’ I say, ‘just 2 to 3 words will do, for the universe will fill in rest of the blanks’ but they look at me in disbelief. I say ‘Pray or just say thank you and begin from where you are’ at which point they turn their back on me and walk away.

I know. I have been there. How do you find faith when you have lost your heart to trials? But trust me, you will be fine, for I was there and the following words are the proof of my isolation. If it helps to know it gets darkest before dawn and the light is just few moments away, just arm’s length away.

I had written the following in some of my darkest hours –

You clasp your hands to your chest
And close your eyes in deep prayer
You enter the temple of your thoughts
A peace descends on your face

You talk volumes to the One
He listens kindly to all your woes
You thank him for all the grace
And remind him of things yet undone

He tells you makings of his plans
He makes you smile and content
He assures you your world will be right
And when not, He will be by your side

You devote yourself, all of You
Mind, body and your soul
No doubt, no guilt, no hesitation
No questions, no justifications

I stand on bylines, watching you
Grow sublime every day
Becoming a temple of peace and love
Shedding worn skin on your way

Can I come, can I accompany you?
Eavesdrop a word or two?
Maybe, He will be kind and mindful
I too may become serene and beautiful
Complete in soul, peaceful

For alone, now my heart aches
On the edge, my strength breaks
Before strength fails me completely
Take me with you, my friend, take me with you.

My prayers were answered and I know yours will be too, just ‘Pray, a word or two will do’.
